On Sunday, September 7, 2008, Belinda Stronach and Peter Chernin co-hosted the first ever Golf Rocks. Proceeds from this rock ‘n roll cabaret fundraiser benefited the global fight against malaria.
Guests enjoyed a day of golf at the exclusive Magna Golf Club followed by a concert under the stars. Multiple Grammy® Award-winning producer and songwriter David Foster was the creative force behind the concert which featured Bill Maher, the Canadian Tenors, Mobile, Kevin Costner and Modern West, Ringside, Raven O of The Box in New York City who served as the Cabaret Master of Ceremonies, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie and Spread the Net Ambassador Ian Thornley who performed “Provide”, the inspiring song he wrote specifically for the fight against malaria. The crowd was brought to their feet as Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein performed their classic hits, and Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Wyclef Jean made a surprise appearance. Other celebrities in attendance included Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys and Grammy Award winner Queen Latifah and Gene Simmons.
